Climate change is significantly impacting water availability in our territory, reducing groundwater recharge and increasing pressure on water resources. In this context, the agricultural sector can play a crucial role by adopting practices aimed at reducing water withdrawals, improving irrigation efficiency, and enhancing water infiltration into the soil.
To address these challenges, the free training course “Sustainable Water Management, Reducing Water Consumption and Groundwater Recharge in Agriculture” has been launched. The course is addressed to agricultural companies and is organised within the framework of the EU co-funded LIFE Svolta Blu project.
The training day will take place on 10 February 2026 at Risorgive del Bacchiglione (Dueville, VI), with the possibility to attend also online. It will provide practical tools and case studies to:
understand the hydrogeological characteristics of the territory and the main risks related to water resources
assess crop water requirements in relation to soil conditions
reduce water consumption through efficient irrigation techniques and the use of sensors and monitoring systems
retain rainwater through on-farm micro-reservoirs
support groundwater recharge in agricultural areas
explore regenerative agriculture examples and already implemented best practices
The course will also focus on water credits (blue credits), explaining how certain water protection and sustainable management actions can contribute—within the LIFE Svolta Blu project—to the generation of credits to be included in a local exchange system, opening up new opportunities for agricultural companies.
Participation is free of charge, and attendees will receive a certificate of attendance at the end of the course.
To participate, please fill in the online registration form by 3 February 2026 at this link (Please note that the form is in Italian).
