On 6 May 2025, the LIFE Svolta Blu project was presented among the Italian experiences introduced during the international workshop “Remediation and restoration of rivers and wetlands: an opportunity to adapt to climate change”, held at the Naturalistic Archaeological Museum of Vicenza (Italy).

The project was represented by Paolo Ronco, Head of Research and Innovation at Viacqua and Scientific Coordinator of LIFE Svolta Blu, who illustrated the innovative approach of blue credits as a tool to encourage sustainable and participatory water resource management.

The workshop took place as part of a visit to Italy by a group of experts from Sweden and Finland – biologists, ichthyologists, agronomists and foresters – involved in the European LIFE TRIWA project, which aims to ecologically rehabilitate the Torne River with the goal of improving water quality, fish species conservation and the climate adaptation of river ecosystems.

LIFE Svolta Blu contributed to the international discussion by presenting an innovative and replicable model based on a voluntary blue credit system that involves public bodies, businesses and citizens in water saving, recharge and conservation actions. This experience is in line with European strategies for climate adaptation and the protection of natural capital.
